A sweet sweater for multiple seasons and occasions- wear it with just a camisole or a thin T-shirt underneath during spring or fall when the weather is just a bit chilly but too warm for a sweater with a tighter neck opening, or wear it with a turtleneck underneath during winter and the soft merino wool would sure keep your little girl toasty and warm. The ribbing on top and the heart shape lace pattern lining the bottom edges give it the dress-up feel while the simple shape of the garment keeps it casual. Pattern offers 2 styles for the neck opening – crocheted collarless edge, or knit rolled edge.

Very pretty! Adding yet another to my long list of to-do patterns!
This is very, very pretty and exactly the style and yarn weight I was looking for to make to my grandaughter’s birthday. Unfortunately it’s too small! ;9( How difficult would this be to enlarge to a size 8-10 (Cdn chils’s size)? Have any ideas on how I might make it work?
Thanks for your interest in the pattern. I will try to look into incorporating various sizes into the pattern soon. At the mean time, one quick way is to experiment with large yarn weight and needles, even though the number of stitches may still need some tweaking. I hope to add more sizes in a month.
Did you incorporate different sizes? I would also be interested. Looking for a size 8 for my granddaughter. Email me with the info or even measurements and maybe I can alter the patten myself. Thanks.
Thanks so much! I’ll drop in often to watch for the update! I had thought of your idea of just using heavier weight yarn, unfortunately, when my grandaughter was here over Xmas, she actually chose the yarn I would use for her next sweater…no wiggle room there…(cause she’s the ~boss~ you know!) I’ve started a different project, but will keep this one in mind for next year! Thanks again!
Please send me the valentine sweater pattern to my e-mail. For some reason I can’t get it to print.
Thank you,
Cris Komons
Hi Catherine,
If there is a size 12, kindly let me knit. It so nice, i would like to knit for my girl.
Thank you for sharing.
If you have the size 12 pattern worked out for the Valentine sweater, please email the directions to me. It is perfect for my granddaughter.
This is a beautiful pattern. Is there a size for a 6 yr. old?
I LOVE this pattern, but can’t seem to find it updated in a bigger size on your site anywhere. I am desperate to knit it for my 8yr old. Would it be possible to send it to me via e-mail? I can’t beleive how clever you are. I could never make up a pattern.
Thank you all very much for your interest in the pattern. I am so sorry it has taken so long for me to add additional sizes. I thought I’d be done with my work contract by now but it kept getting extended. I am halfway through and will keep working on it as much as I can. I will notify everyone when the updated pattern is ready (I am adding up to the size of age 12)!
I need a size 8-10. I love the pattern. I was thinking of using a larger needle and worsted weight to get the size. Do you think that would work.? thanks Veronica
Dear Veronica,
It can work. It is important to knit a few swatches with different yarn weights and needle sizes to determine the gauge for each. You can then calculate how big your garment will turn out. For example, if it takes about half of the stitches (15 sts) as my gauge to get 4 inches wide fabric using your yarn and needle, your swatch will be twice as wide if you knit as many stitch as my gauge (31 sts). Be sure to also check the row gauge as well. I hope this helps and that you enjoy knitting this pattern. I am happy to answer any questions you may have as you work on the project. -Catherine
